Lesson 7 - Flourishing As a Storyteller

There are many ways to share your story including writing, speaking, visual art, music, dance, and many more.

In a digital world, there are also many channels to express yourself. Not everyone will discover your story through a blog. Your story can be repurposed to fit the format of social media, email, video, and even peer-to-peer conversations.

Activation 7

In this activation, we will start with a writing lesson, then look at how we can repurpose your blog into social media and emails.

The theme of this lesson for your blog article is overcoming external challenges. Let’s start by writing a blog.

THE ROAD Job 23:10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

Once you have completed your blog, we can consider how to use this article for social media and email. Use this worksheet: Understanding Your Blog Article - If you use your outline, then you already have these ready to go!
Repurposing for Social Media. Choose a social media platform (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and describe its format and limitations.

Use your main idea list to fit the format. There are many different channels and formats.

Here is an example of what an Instagram Reel script could look like using the blog about spaying and neutering dogs from our earlier activations:

Instagram Reel Script: "The Importance of Spaying and Neutering Dogs"

[Opening Scene]

Introducer: Hey there, dog lovers! 🐶 Did you know that spaying and neutering your furry friends is super important? In today's reel, we'll dive into the benefits and reasons why you should consider this for your precious pups. Let's get started! 🎬

[Scene 1] Visual: Display an image of an adorable dog with a caption "Meet Cricket, the happy and healthy neutered pup!"

Narrator: Meet Cricket, a happy and healthy pup who has been neutered. Neutering not only prevents unwanted litters but also offers a range of health benefits for our furry companions.

[Scene 2] Visual: Show an infographic highlighting the health benefits of spaying and neutering.

Narrator: When you spay or neuter your dog, you greatly reduce the risk of certain cancers, eliminate the possibility of reproductive diseases, and even decrease aggressive behavior.

[Scene 3] Visual: Feature a before-and-after image of a shelter dog finding a forever home.

Narrator: By spaying and neutering, we can help control the pet population and reduce the number of dogs in shelters. It gives more pups like Cricket the chance to find their loving forever homes.

[Scene 4] Visual: Display an image of a responsible pet owner with their neutered dog, engaging in outdoor activities. Narrator: Spaying and neutering also promotes responsible pet ownership. You'll have peace of mind knowing that your pup won't contribute to unplanned pregnancies or roam around searching for a mate.

Narrator: So, let's show our furry friends some love! Join the movement, and consider spaying or neutering your dogs. Together, we can make a positive impact on their health, behavior, and the overall pet community. 🐾

Here is an example of an email based on that same blog:

Subject: The Importance of Spaying and Neutering Your Dog

Hi [Recipient's Name],

I hope this email finds you and your furry friend in good health and high spirits! I wanted to reach out and share some important information about the well-being of our beloved canine companions.

As a fellow dog lover, I recently wrote a blog post on the importance of spaying and neutering dogs, and I couldn't help but think about how this topic could benefit you and your furry family member. Spaying and neutering not only contribute to controlling the pet population but also have numerous health benefits for your dog.

By spaying or neutering your dog, you can significantly reduce the risk of certain cancers and eliminate the possibility of reproductive diseases. It also helps to decrease aggressive behavior, making your dog happier and more sociable. Moreover, it promotes responsible pet ownership by ensuring that your dog doesn't contribute to unplanned litters or roam around searching for a mate.

Not only is this a responsible decision for your own dog's well-being, but it also has a positive impact on the larger pet community. By spaying or neutering, we can help reduce the number of dogs in shelters and give more pups the opportunity to find loving forever homes, just like our furry friend Cricket!

If you haven't already considered spaying or neutering your dog, I highly recommend discussing it with your veterinarian. They can provide guidance, address any concerns you may have, and schedule the procedure at a convenient time.

I encourage you to read my blog post on this topic, where I go into more detail about the benefits and reasons behind spaying and neutering. Here's the link: [Insert Link to the Blog Post].

Let's all do our part to ensure the health, happiness, and well-being of our four-legged companions. If you have any questions or would like to share your experiences, feel free to reply to this email. I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you for your time, and remember, by spaying or neutering your dog, you're making a positive impact on their life and the pet community as a whole.

Warm regards,
